Checking Out and the 5-Hour Energy Drink

Isn't he just the picture of innocence and sweetness?

Taking Graeme to the store is always an adventure. He is a great shopping companion and sits in the cart pretty well through the whole experience. Getting through checkout is the true adventure. He loves the impulse buy items around the registers as it is a narrow space (especially at Wal-art where the cart and a person cannot fit side by side) and things are just his size. Today, for example, he tried reaching for a mini can of butene. He then kicked off a shoe which a very nice gentlemen picked up for me (being ready to pop with his little brother, bending is getting more impossible everyday). Next, we passed the soda cooler which he REALLY wanted to open. Gift cards were next, but thankfully able to angle him a bit so that they were out of reach. There are the buttons on the credit card machine which are so much fun to push. Finally, mommy finishes checking out (really wasn't long, only about 5 minutes for all of this and maybe 8 feet of aisle to cover). As I finally get back to pushing the front of the cart instead of pulling it along the aisle behind me, I discover he did manage to grab an impulse item-a 5-hour energy drink. I looked at him, laughed and let him know that of all the things to grab that was the one he really didn't need. We put it on another check out stand and escaped, thankful that I noticed before we left the store or even worse before he drank it!

Raising a small Na'vi

Okay, so we just watched Avatar this past weekend and I couldn't help but be reminded of the tall blue people today when my son tried to turn himself into one! We were finger painting (which is definitely an outdoor activity with a 19 month old and I had already chased him around the house when all he had in his hand was a crayon). So we are outside and the first bit does go down on the paper, but that's it. Soon he has blue spots not just on his hands but his head and is spreading it around to his toys and helping me water the plants. We enjoyed the show and just appreciated the fact that at least he likes the backyard and won't end up being 12 feet tall and have a tail!

First Post

I have finally done it! I am starting a blog!!! As we are getting ready for our second little fella to arrive any day now, I figured this was the time to start blogging. I can't wait to share our adventures as we raise 2 "Hale-ions" and just try to survive the craziness which is life.
